Our Love Story
We are so excited to have you all join us for #TaniKaRishta. A rishta is a relationship or commitment between two people. Before your arrival, we’d love to share with you the journey of this RishTa. Come time travel with us from 2011 till 2025. Each moment over the last 14 years has taught us the beauty of love and commitment. Thank you for taking the time to celebrate us as we embark on the most exciting chapter yet.

Debate

We can’t talk about Tanisha & Rishabh without mentioning debate. We first met as 7th graders in Ms. Caine’s debate classroom in fall 2011. Rishabh remembers this meeting filled with intrigue to get to know the ‘girl who scrunched her nose’. To this day, Rishabh claims that it was that moment that he knew Tanisha was the girl he wanted to marry. But we’ll save that debate for another day :) Regardless, a few months later, he told some of his best friends that he had a little crush on Tanisha. What started as friendly competition quickly turned into a partnership over the next six years. The debate duo planned school events, competitions, and led a team to be the #1 school debate club. Little did they know that those early debate rounds and club meetings would be the first steps on a lifelong journey.

Becoming Best Friends
Some of our fondest memories from high school are where our friends came together to help us become more than just best friends. After exchanging many birthday letters with each other, in the Spring of 2016, Tanisha surprised Rishabh with a scrapbook on his birthday. A few weeks later, Rishabh mustered the courage to ask Tanisha to the Junior Prom dance with a poster that said ‘Come with me to Prom when Pigs Fly”. Tanisha’s short time in the rural state of Nebraska before moving to California was a running joke that inspired an ask themed on pigs. Rishabh had friends draw pigs on pink balloons and then let the balloons rise up into the sky, creating the perfect moment.
WINTER 2017
The Beginning to Forever
In February 2017, Tanisha asked Rishabh to go with her to Sadies (a school dance where the girls ask the guys). She gathered all the friends and planned a scavenger hunt which ended with a note “We’d be picture perfect at Sadies” as an ode to Rishabh’s love for photography. It was the following evening at 7:52 pm on February 18, where Rishabh asked Tanisha to be his girlfriend. After easily saying yes, Tanisha asked Rishabh ‘Can you also promise that no matter what we’ll always be best friends first?”. This marked the beginning of forever.

Love in Long Distance
The next four years would be a test to their friendship and commitment. But as they say, distance makes the heart grow fonder. While they went to college 330 miles away from each other, they continued to support each other as they paved the way for their education and careers. One of their favorite memories is when Rishabh would visit Tanisha @ UC Santa Barbara and the two of them would sit at a bench on Campus Point (a lookout facing the ocean) and star gaze. They’d share their struggles, dreams, aspirations, and everything in between. It was these moments that made their relationship stronger than ever before.
WINTER 2024
A Dreamy Proposal
What Tanisha thought was just a girls trip to revisit Santa Barbara, turned into the dreamiest surprise proposal planned by Rishabh. At the same Campus Point spot where they’d shared their dreams, Rishabh got down on one knee and asked Tanisha “Today, 13 years in the making, I’ll ask you two questions. Will you be my best friend forever and will you marry me?” It was the easiest yes Tanisha ever had to say. We’re now counting down the days to tying the knot in India almost one year later.

One common trait that Tanisha & Rishabh bonded over early on in their relationship was their love for family. Their deep connection to their extended family overseas is why we’ve decided to get married at the homeland.
